Where can I volunteer?

We have a continuous need for enthusiastic volunteers throughout the region, including our heritage museums, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Community Groups. You'll find fulfilling opportunities available in various locations across the State.

How much time do I have to give?

At National Trust Queensland, we understand the value of your time and flexibility.

The duration of volunteer shifts varies depending on the opening hours and events at each property, but typically is from 4 to 6 hours once per week.

We offer a diverse array of roles ranging from ongoing rosters to assisting at special one-off events.

Once you express your interest in a specific role, we'll promptly reach out to you for a further discussion. Your preferences and availability are important to us, as we work together to create a fulfilling volunteering experience.

What age do I have to be?

You will need to be 18 years and over.

What age are other NTAQ volunteers?

We have volunteers from every age bracket in our volunteer teams, from 18 years old to the over 80’s!

Will I receive training?

Yes, you will. The level of training will vary depending on the volunteer role. Training will be a combination of face-to-face training and online training to make your volunteering experience an opportunity to enjoy and to comply with our required policies and procedures.

What are the costs to join the NTAQ volunteer program?

  • For volunteering programs hosted at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, a one-off registration fee is payable to join the program. The registration fee varies for each program, dependant on the uniform required for the volunteering role. Details are on the individual webpage for each program.
  • There is no registration fee payable to join NTAQ Heritage Volunteer programs or NTAQ Community Groups.
  • All NTAQ volunteers in every program are required to renew your volunteering commitment annually via an online survey, but no additional registration fee is required.

Do I have to be a member of National Trust Queensland?

No. Although as part of the reward for volunteering with us, we do offer you a heavily discounted membership deal. We’d love you to join to both enjoy the many benefits and to further support NTAQ.

What are the benefits of volunteering with NTAQ?

We welcome you a member of our National Trust Queensland team. As a registered NTAQ volunteer you will receive a NTAQ Team Member Benefits card which will give you access to exclusive deals and benefits across the State. These include:

  • NTAQ Name badge
  • Teams Card offering entry for you and up to four (4) people at any National Trust Queensland property including Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Discounts across properties, wine club, and external tourism partners.
  • Family & Friends discounts.
  • (NTAQ t-shirt or uniform for volunteers in Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary volunteer programs).
  • Invitations to team events including morning teas, Christmas celebration events and information and training sessions.
  • Regular team updates and communications from our CEO, General Managers and Site Coordinators

How do I become a NTAQ Volunteer?

Please apply online via our Volunteer software which we use to manage our registrations, communications, training and compliance for our valued volunteers. Scroll down to the bottom of our volunteering page and click on the NTAQ Volunteer program you wish to join.
